Greenbank Delaware Circa 1940 Scale: HO Prototype: B&O Landenberg Branch Locale: Northwestern Delaware Era: Late 30’s early 40’s Minimum Radius: 30” Main Track 18” Spurs Maximum Grade: None The Greenbank Delaware Circa 1940 LDE is based on the small town of Greenbank Delaware as it existed around the year 1940. The town is served by the Landenberg Branch of the B&O, which still runs today as the tourist line Wilmington Western Railroad. The line served several towns including Marshallton, Greenbank, Ashland, Yorklyn, Hockessin, and Landenberg. The branch heads toward Ashland to the left of the LDE and Marshallton to the right. Operations on the line consist of a way freight, pulled by the line’s SW-1 or a steam switcher (0-6-0 most likely), switching the town’s industry Which is a snuff mill. The train would also handle LCL service at the depot. If the train is steam powered it would also take on water at the tower by the depot. |
