HO Scale Entry 2Big Fork & Diehl
Point to point coal hauling branch line, transition era. Turntable and very small yard at interchange point; wye at mine level. Space for a few other small industries. Mostly hidden oval provides continuous running, simulates interchange with larger road. Motive power envisioned: Branch line - 2-8-0 preferred, at most a Russian 2-10-0 or USRA Light 2-8-2 or 2-10-2; passenger service (a combine and a coach or two) from a 2-6-0, 2-6-2 or 4-4-2, or a doodlebug. Class 1 road anything from 2-8-2, 2-10-2 to 2-8-4 or light 4-8-2; 4-6-2 with short heavyweight cars for Class 1 passenger ops, or early diesels (round and round, regrettably). Track and turnouts: Code 70 flex, almost any #6 turnouts (designed to NMRA standard dimensions); one #5 to freight house/engine service supply spurs. Mainline radius 27" except where noted; wye radius 22". Gradients 1.75 - 2%. |
