Thought you might like a couple of pix of some Elephant Ivory grips. I had a pair of New Generation Smith & Wesson Schofield's engraved, silver plated and with checkered Ivory grips done by Jim Alaimo at Nutmeg Sports earlier this year. Nutmeg Sports, LLC - Gun List . Nutmeg usually does Colt's but they took on the S&W project and did a great job.
I had the leather for these fine S&W's custom made by Wm. Brown Leather of Tombstone,AZ. They did a top notch job too. Contact WM Brown Holster .

This is my first attempt at grip making. I whittled a chunk of elk
antler into some grips for my Uberti New Model Russian. I probably
should have started with wood and a more basic shape to re-create, but I
never do things the easy way. I think they turned out pretty good for a
first time effort (if I do say so myself).

1,3-6)An Armi San Paolo (Euroarms of America) stainless Remington .44 New Model Army before and after its conversion to a .45 Auto Blacksmith's Special.
The pistol now sports a 5" barrel, a handcrafted brass dovetail front sight, handmade teak grips with a tung oil finish, and a blued Kirst .45 ACP cartridge cylinder. The revolver's frame has been ported to match the ported Kirst Konverter, enabling the loading of cartridges without removing the cylinder. The blued cylinder pin retaining clip is also from Kirst.
The original blackpowder cylinder still works fine.
2)The revolver before its 'conversion'
7)The revolver pictured with the original black powder cylinder, and it's new
'preferred' load; five standard UMC (Remington) .45 ACP hardball cartridges,
with 230 grs MC bullets at 835fps generating 356 ft-lbs energy.
8) On the left is the second .45 Auto Blacksmith's Special. Similar to its
'sibling' on the right, it is a nickeled Pietta .44 New Model Army with a
4 3/8" barrel, an original unported Kirst Konverter, and a cylinder pin
retaining clip that has also been nickeled.

This is a carved replica of an old Franzite
grip. The material is a faux ivory which is basically like what they make
these new fake teeth out of. It was carved and fitted by Bob Leskovic. It is
an exact copy of the grip used by Alan Ladd on his Colt in the movie "Shane".
Its on a US Firearms "China Camp"

These are my colt Custom Gun Shop Single Action Armies. They have consecutive serial numbers and are .45 Colt with 7 1/2" barrels. Both are adjusted to the same common point of aim (In the Center). These are the most recent 3 generation guns with the removable bushings. They have One piece Elk Horn Grips that I fit to them. The Holster rig is from Jeff Morrow of Shooting Star Saddlery in Niarada, MT. The rig took 5 months to have made but was well worth it.

Here's a picture of my mainmatch Colt SAA's. The grips are powdered ivory and polymer mix, and they age just like the real thing. They were white when I got them 12 years or so ago. Bought them at a gun show, but have not seen them in a while. Holsters are by Old West Reproductions

These "Birds Head" grips are made of a resin material that were purchased
from "GripMaker". They came in the white and I did the stain job myself.
As a comparison you can see what real Stag grips are like on my Officers
size 1911. I wanted my Cimarron Thunderers to look different so I had just
the frames nickel plated and left everything else blue.

The "Maple Sugar's Maple Leaf" grips on my 32 vaquerita. I get compliments on
these all the time. Russ N. Hound made the grips -- he created a mold for the
vaquerita grips, and made these out of pearlite that was dyed red at my request.
The result looks something like burled maple. Russ also did the Maple Leaf
engraving, to match the stock on my Model 97 (also pictured), which was refinished
from the original lacquer finish and woodburned by my good pard Cajun Fire,
SASS #22314.

'Miss Ruby' has a red and black theme going on and I made sure my rig and guns matched too!
The guns are stainless Ruger 357's. I haven't had them long but love shooting with them. My red grips were made out of resin by my very good friend Aimless Lee who lives in Blenheim, New Zealand.

The buffalo grips, from Bufalo Brothers, are on a 45 blackhawk, the 'Flur di lies' are on the Cimarron Thunderer and the stags are on my original Schofield, but will fit the new model Schofields as well. The Buffalo grips will also fit the Ruger Vaquero and look mighty fine
